A Cleburne man was nearly killed over the weekend after a devastating hit-and-run crash on Interstate 20 in Arlington.
The crash happened Saturday evening near the Collins Street exit, as the man was riding home on a recently purchased motorcycle. While heading westbound, he was struck from behind by a black SUV that immediately fled the scene. The impact left the motorcyclist lying in the roadway with serious injuries.
According to Arlington police, the vehicle involved is believed to be a black Chevrolet Tahoe, model years 2007 to 2014. It may have sustained damage to the front driver’s side during the collision. Investigators say the driver stopped momentarily before speeding away, leaving the injured rider without assistance.
Emergency responders were called by witnesses, and one bystander stayed with the victim until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a nearby hospital with a head injury, spinal fracture, and severe abrasions across his body. Doctors also discovered a brain aneurysm during his treatment, requiring further medical care in addition to long-term physical therapy.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are asking anyone with information about the suspect or vehicle to contact the Arlington Police Department.
